🌿Hi, I'm Heena
I am a mother, author, and teacher of meditation and embodied self-enquiry.
Over the past three decades, I have studied extensively in the fields of meditation, self-enquiry, embodied awareness, and trauma-informed practice.
Yet, my deepest learning has come through lived experience — a personal journey of healing, motherhood, meditation, and embodied awareness.
🌿My Story
Â
When I was five years old, my mother left to follow her spiritual path. I went to live with my father — loving in his own way, but emotionally reserved — and my stepmother, who struggled deeply with depression.
Growing up within emotional silence, and disconnection shaped both my emotional and physical wellbeing in ways I would only fully understand later in life.
On the day of my kidney transplant in 1997, I experienced a profound glimpse of Stillness beyond thought.
That moment quietly transformed the direction of my life and awakened deeper questions around healing, suffering, and what it truly means to be alive.
What began as a life-saving transplant became the beginning of a lifelong journey of meditation, enquiry, healing, and embodied awareness.
Motherhood deepened this journey even further.
My grandmother, a deeply spiritual Hindu woman who held Satsang in West London, encouraged me to experience motherhood itself as a path of awareness and inner growth.
Through consciously raising my children, Jamie and Sienna — including through the Rudolf Steiner education approach — I began to understand how deeply unresolved experiences, emotional patterns, and nervous-system conditioning can move quietly through family life across generations.
The realisation that these patterns could continue into the next generation became a powerful catalyst for healing.
Through this journey, I came to understand that what we carry from the past is often held silently within the body, through tension, emotional holding, and protective nervous-system patterns. Left unnoticed, these patterns can shape how we feel, respond, and relate to ourselves and those we love.
Today, my work supports mothers in reconnecting with themselves through the body, bringing awareness to what has been silently carried, and rediscovering the quiet inner support that has always been within them.
Nearly three decades after my kidney transplant, a renal consultant at the Royal Free Hospital in London expressed surprise at the remarkable health of my transplanted kidney — something considered rare after so many years.
Our conversations about meditation, embodiment, and nervous-system awareness quietly encouraged me to begin sharing this work more openly with others.
The Seven Layers of Inner Peace™ is a gentle embodied framework for meeting and staying with experience through the body, one layer at a time.
At the heart of this work is an invitation to listen more deeply to the body, allowing space for awareness, reconnection, and rest to emerge naturally.
My book, Fragrance of Freedom: Discovering Peace Through Mothering (Troubador Publishing), was published in 2023.
Often described as a gentle companion for mothers, the book explores motherhood through Stillness, awareness, healing, and embodied presence.
The book is beautifully illustrated by my children, Jamie and Sienna, whose artwork brings further depth and tenderness to its pages.
Today I live in the Cotswolds, where the rhythms of nature and everyday life continue to inform my writing, teaching, and embodied enquiry.
